Happy 3rd Birthday!!!

We celebrated our son's 3rd birthday this month. I kept asking him what kind of cake he wanted and he would reply, "A blue cake." I really don't know what that was all about, but he was sure happy with this one. So happy, in fact, that while I was upstairs getting ready he pulled it out of the fridge, took it out of the cake cover, and started playing with the front-loader (luckily all without destroying the cake!). Yikes!

 Blowing out candles.

Using his front-loader to eat his ice cream.

It was a tractor birthday! But his favorite toy is his new garbage truck.

Vacation

This summer we learned the meaning of vacation! I kept telling my son we were going on vacation, but it didn't really make sense to him. We went to pick up Daddy from work at lunch time and begin the drive to Utah, but poor little guy fell asleep on the way there! He woke up an hour or two later, in the mountains, trying to figure out where we were and surprised to see Daddy in the car. :) The adventure just kept on going!
Playing in Grandma & Grandpa's backyard.
 Bubble fun with cousins!
Waving to the animals at the zoo
We ended our trip with some early 4th of July celebrations

Let's Go Fly A Kite

Our son loves to watch Mary Poppins (the songs and dancing, especially by Dick Van Dyke, are favorites of his). He kept begging to go fly a kite so we took one to the beach with us, hoping it would be a good day. It was perfect! The kite went up on our first try (which will likely never happen again, but perfect when you have a demanding almost three year old) and made for some wonderful memories. And yes, we did sing "Let's Go Fly a Kite."

 One happy boy!
(Proof we got it up and flying.)

Showing off the tiny starfish Daddy found.
Watching the waves crash on the beach.
